MERCY, FORGIVENESS, AND LOVE

The world can be a rough place. At some point, most of us want to be rescued. Sometimes, we need to be rescued from ourselves. We become ensnared in our own failures and need help. Fortunately, God offers help to those who trust Him.

For as the heavens are high above the earth,

So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;

As far as the east is from the west,

So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

As a father pities his children,

So the LORD pities those who fear Him.

For He knows our frame;

He remembers that we are dust.

(Psalm 103:11-14, NKJV)

Thank God for His mercy, forgiveness, and love.

Thank God for His mercy.

God is merciful. His mercy is as boundless as the universe. We deserve punishment for our disobedience. But God is merciful, and offers forgiveness for those who trust Him.

Thank God for His forgiveness.

God offers forgiveness for those who trust Him. His forgiveness extends as far as the east is from the west. Except for the inpardonable sin, there is nothing in this world God cannot and will not forgive. He sent His Son, Jesus, to take the punishment we deserve when He died on the cross. Those who trust Him receive His forgiveness, paid for by the sacrifice of Christ.

Thank God for His love.

God loves us like His children. And in Christ, we are His children. He takes pity on us, understanding our limitations as mortal beings. In spite of our limitations, weaknesses and flaws, He loves us anyway.
