FAITH OVER FEAR

Although we don't like to admit it, there are times when we are afraid. Perhaps it is because we feel threatened by circumstances. Perhaps it is because we feal threatened by people. Nonetheless, we feel afraid. But fear can be overcome.

David overcame his fear through faith in God. Although he was known for killing a giant, he later was nearly killed by the Philistines and had to pretend madness to escape from them. After that episode, he wrote these words:

In God I have put my trust;
I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?
(Psalm 56:11, NKJV)

When we fully trust in God, we will not fear men.

David experienced God's power in the past. God gave him victory over the giant when he was a youth. God delivered him from wild beasts when he was a young boy guarding sheep. God delivered him from an angry king who wanted to kill him. David was confident that God could deliver him from the Philistines also.

The more we experience God's power in our lives, the more we trust Him. The more we trust Him, the more we experience His power in our lives. That is the cycle of faith. God initiates the process by calling us to trust Him. When we do, our faith grows stronger. Over time we come to realize that God is truly in control of all things, including those people who seek our destruction. We need not fear, because God is in control.

Are you fully trusting God?
