“…sanctify yourselves, you and your brethren, that you may bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel to the place I have prepared for it. For because you did not do it the first time, the Lord our God broke out against us, because we did not consult Him about the proper order.” So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel. And the children of the Levites bore the ark of God on their shoulders, by its poles, as Moses had commanded according to the word of the Lord.
(1 Chronicles 15:12-15, NKJV)
David learned from the failure of the first attempt to move the Ark of the Covenant. This time they consulted God first and did it His way. God blessed their efforts.
Seek God’s leadership. Follow God’s leadership.
Seek God's leadership by studying His Word, the Bible. God already had instructions for moving the Ark of the Covenant in the writings of Moses. For the second attempt to move the Ark, David started there. We will find God's expectations in His Word.
After we discover God's expectations in His Word, we must obey what He says. The Bible does us no good until we apply its truths to our lives. Put it into practice.
Do not allow failures of the past to prevent you from following God in the present. God allows u-turns. When we, as believers, confess our sins and repent, God will forgive and help us make corrections.
Of course, this assumes we have already established a relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. We cannot truly follow God if we do not know God.
When we seek God's leadership and follow God's leadership, we will be blessed.
