MAGNIFYING GOD

So let it be established, that Your name may be magnified forever, saying, ‘The Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, is Israel’s God.’ And let the house of Your servant David be established before You.

(1 Chronicles 17:24, NKJV)

King David wanted to build a magnificent Temple for God. God sent word through Nathan the Prophet that He did not want David to build a house for Him; but He would establish David's house. God would raise up a descendant of David, who would rule forever. The New Testament tells us that this promise will be fulfilled by Jesus Christ, the Son of David, when He returns to rule as King of Kings.

In response to God's promise, King David prayed. He said that he wanted God to establish his kingdom forever as He promised, not for his own sake, but so that God would be magnified.

Seek God’s glory more than your own.

We should have the same attitude as David. We should seek God's glory above all else. When we do, we are truly blessed. Focus on God, not self.
