PATH TO GLORY

Have you ever felt unworthy of God's love? Sometimes we reflect on our own failures and wonder how God could ever love us. But the Bible tells us that He does love us, in spite of ourselves. He is leading us on the path to glory.

Asaph discovered this truth and wrote about it in Psalm 73. Asaph was appointed by King David to lead worship at the tabernacle. He wrote several psalms included in the Bible today. When considering God's leadership, he wrote these words:

I was so foolish and ignorant;
I was like a beast before You.
Nevertheless I am continually with You;
You hold me by my right hand.
You will guide me with Your counsel,
And afterward receive me to glory.
(Psalm 73:22-24, NKJV)

God leads us on the path to glory.

God leads us from our past.

Asaph admitted he was foolish, ignorant, and uncivilized. yet, God continued to lead him. When he wrote this psalm, he was no longer foolish, ignorant, and uncivilized. He WAS all of those things, but no longer, due to God's leadership. When we begin to follow God through faith in Jesus Christ, He transforms us. We are no longer who we once were. We are now new creations in Christ.

God leads us with His presence.

Asaph recognized that God was continually with him. Jesus promised never to leave us nor forsake us. When we receive Christ as our Savior, He seals us with the Holy Spirit. He does not abandon us or leave us to fend for ourselves. He walks with us through this life. He leads us every step of the way.

God leads us with His power.

Asaph wrote that God held him by his right hand. It was God who held Asaph, not Asaph who held God. Our relationship with God depends on His power, not our own. We are not saved because of our own power, skills, or righteousness. We are saved because of God's power. He saves us and keeps us saved, in spite of ourselves.

God leads us with His persuasion.

Asaph wrote that God guided him with His counsel. On the path to glory, He speaks to us. He gives us counsel through His Word. He persuades us to follow His path. He teaches us the way to go.

God leads us in His plan.

Asaph wrote that some day, God would receive him into glory. That is God's plan for believers. He guides us through this life. At the end, He takes us to glory. Then our journey is complete. Our transformation is finished. We will live with God forever.

Are you on the path to glory?
