SEEKING GOD

Have you ever been in a spiritual drought? In those times it seems as if God is nowhere to be found. You feel as if your soul will dry up.

David felt that way. He wrote about it in Psalm 63. He wrote the psalm when he was in a literal wilderness. But he was also in a spiritual wilderness, longing for God. He wrote these words:

O God, You are my God;
Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You;
My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land
Where there is no water.
So I have looked for You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and Your glory.
(Psalm 63:1-2, NKJV)

Seek God above all else.

Like David, we should long for God and desire to be closer to Him. David sought God in three ways. So should we.

Seek God early.

Begin each day seeking God. We seek Him in prayer, talking with God. To walk with God we must talk with God. We also seek Him by meditating on the Scriptures. Through meditation, we hear God speak to us. Schedule time in the morning to seek God.

Seek God earnestly.

Cultivate a desire for God in your heart. As you grow closer to God, the more you will desire Him. God knows when we are sincere. Seek Him, not out of habit, but because you want to know Him more. Make God your highest priority.

Seek God ecclesiastically.

Worship God in church, where His people gather. We see God's power displayed in a special way in church. It is there that we see people whose lives have been and are being transformed by God. We are encouraged by like-minded people who are also seeking God. We can also be an encouragement to others.

Are you seeking God? Seek Him until He finds you.
