THE DANGER OF DISOBEDIENCE

So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he had committed against the Lord, because he did not keep the word of the Lord, and also because he consulted a medium for guidance. But he did not inquire of the Lord; therefore He killed him, and turned the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse

(1 Chronicles 10:13-14, NKJV)

King Saul’s disobedience and lack of communication with God was his undoing. Here we see the charges against him. On separate occasions he had failed to obey God's word, consulted a medium, and failed to seek God's guidance. For these transgressions, God allowed Saul to die in battle against the Philistines, so that David would replace him as king.

When we continue to disobey God, we invite the discipline of God. Although the results may not be as drastic as God's actions against Saul, we will suffer defeat when we live in disobedience to God.

Talk to God. Listen to God. Obey God.

Talk to God in prayer. Listen to God by prayerfully reading the Bible and meditating on it. Make necessary steps to obey what God tells you. If you do not hear from God, wait until you do.
