But as for the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the Lord, in this manner you shall speak to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God of Israel: “Concerning the words which you have heard— because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants, that they would become a desolation and a curse, and you tore your clothes and wept before Me, I also have heard you,” says the Lord. “Surely, therefore, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace; and your eyes shall not see all the calamity which I will bring on this place.” ’ ” So they brought back word to the king. (2 Kings 22:18-20, NKJV)
Young King Josiah ordered maintenance for the Temple. During the construction, a copy of the Torah, the first five books of the Old Testament written by Moses, was found. The Torah was brought to Josiah and read to him. Josiah realized the nation had disobeyed God for a very long time and was deserving of God’s wrath. He sent men to inquire of the Lord what would happen to the kingdom. They consulted with Huldah the Prophetess, who confirmed that God had indeed decreed judgment on the nation; however, because King Josiah had humbled himself before God and obeyed Him, God would delay His judgment until after Josiah’s lifetime. Josiah’s turn to God was rewarded with peace for himself and the entire nation for many years.
One person turning to God can have an impact on many others.
Turn FROM your sin. Repent.
Turn TO God. Ask for His forgiveness. Commit your life to Him.
Impact your circles of influence for God.
